Abhisit Vejjajiva Urges Public to Reject Vote-Buying in Phitsanulok and Sukhothai

Phitsanulok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, the leader of the Democrat Party and a prime ministerial candidate, has called for public action to break the cycle of vote-buying funded by "grey money" during his campaign stops in the Phitsanulok and Sukhothai provinces. He expressed confidence in the Democrat Party's leadership to spearhead the "Building a Poverty-Free Thailand" campaign.

According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit was accompanied by party secretary-general Chaiwut Bannawat and deputy leaders Songkrang Jitsutthiphakorn and Sathit Wongnongteuy. The campaign tour emphasized the party's commitment to honest politics as a means to sustainably improve people's quality of life, with a focus on the Democrat Party's platform, numbered 27 in the election.

During his visit, Mr. Abhisit urged the public to participate in creating a "civilized and honest nation," identifying it as essential to resolving persistent issues in the regions, especially in terms of water resource management and agricultural costs. He assured that the party's policies are designed to provide comprehensive solutions that cater to all demographics, aiming for tangible improvements in their standard of living.

Addressing concerns about shady influences, Mr. Abhisit highlighted the need to eradicate corruption and illegal groups that impede national progress. He stressed that these elements present significant challenges to effective governance.

"We want to emphasize that the country cannot move forward if corruption or the influence of illegal groups gaining power and hindering honesty. Other problems cannot be solved if this continues. The key to breaking this cycle and starting anew is for the people to reject vote buying, especially given the current suspicions that the money used for this buying is 'grey money'," Mr. Abhisit stated.

He also assured the public of the readiness of the Democrat Party's parliamentary candidates, who have been selected for their potential and shared ideologies. He called for public support to elect these candidates, who will be instrumental in advancing the "Eradicate Poverty in Thailand" campaign and restoring integrity to Thai politics.
