Airboat Deployed to Recover Smuggled Animal Carcasses in Trat

Trat: An airboat was deployed by the Maritime Security Command Region 1 to assist the Trat Maritime Security Command in recovering animal carcasses from a sunken vessel that was part of a smuggling operation bound for Cambodia. The operation aims to prevent potential disease outbreaks and pollution resulting from the incident.

According to Thai News Agency, the Maritime Security Command Region 1 coordinated with relevant agencies in Trat Province to tackle the situation after a vessel, attempting to evade intensified crackdowns on smuggling, struck a rock and sank. This incident led to over 2 tons of smuggled meat, which was washed ashore in the mangrove forests of Khlong Yai District, causing environmental concerns due to the rotting meat.

To address the situation, the Maritime Security Command Region 1 swiftly dispatched an airboat and personnel to support the efforts in Trat Province. The agencies involved are working urgently to recover the animal carcasses to mitigate the risk of disease outbreaks and pollution, thus protecting the public and the marine ecosystem from adverse effects.

The Maritime Security Command of Trat Province has called for public cooperation in identifying individuals involved in smuggling operations that harm communities and the marine environment. Citizens are encouraged to report any information to the MSC of Trat Province, where confidentiality will be maintained.
