Anthony Hudson Poised to Lead Thailand Against Sri Lanka in Asian Cup Qualifier

Colombo: Hudson is ready to lead the Thai team to victory over Sri Lanka. Anthony Hudson announced his readiness to lead the Thai team to defeat Sri Lanka in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying round, Group D, match 5, tomorrow evening.

According to Thai News Agency, the press conference was held at the Press Conference Room, Racecourse International Stadium in Sri Lanka, where the organizers announced the readiness for the upcoming match between the Thai national team and Sri Lanka. The event was led by Anthony Hudson, the head coach of the Thai national team from England, alongside Nicholas Mickelson.

Head coach Anthony Hudson emphasized the importance of providing a brief and clear introduction to the team. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work on this assignment and highlighted his pride in the players, praising their character both individually and collectively. Hudson acknowledged the challenges of visiting Sri Lanka, noting the physical characteristics, strength, and individual abilities of the Sri Lankan players. He assured that a plan was in place to handle these challenges.

“Sri Lanka is a strong and quality team, which is something we should be wary of and I’ve been telling my players all along. But before tomorrow’s game, in a meeting, we’ll be clear about our objectives,” Hudson said. He also spoke about his experience with Southeast Asian football, pointing out its development and the passionate fan base.

Hudson expressed gratitude to the Thai media and fans for their support and stressed the importance of acknowledging past records while turning any pressure into courage and confidence. He stated that the team aims to extend their winning streak to nine games, while respecting Sri Lanka as formidable opponents.

Nicholas Mickelson added, “We have prepared a plan and are preparing the team with the goal of winning tomorrow’s game.” He mentioned the need to adapt to changes within the team, including training intensity, team culture, and the coaching staff.

The Thai national team is set to compete in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying round, Group D, Matchday 5, against the Sri Lankan national team, ranked 193rd in the world. The match will take place at the Colombo Racecourse Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka, on November 18, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. Thailand time.
