Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and Prime Minister, has referred the matter of appointing foreigners to the Social Security Board of Directors to the Social Security Office for explanation. This move comes amid ongoing discussions and scrutiny over the board's composition.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin commented on the recent advance voting, highlighting the high turnout as a positive indicator of public engagement in national affairs. He noted that the increased participation signals that voters are eager to exercise their rights and contribute to the country's future. Anutin mentioned that the official voting on February 8th would further reflect the people's determination to shape the nation's direction.
In response to remarks made by Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, chairman of the Progressive Movement, who stated that the People's Party would win from afar, Anutin emphasized that every party, including the People's Party, holds expectations about election outcomes. He stressed that each party's members understand their organizations best and that hope is a common sentiment across political lines.
Addressing the Social Security Fund and the Progressive Movement's proposal to include foreigners on its board, Anutin acknowledged the Progressive Movement's involvement in managing the fund over the past few years. He suggested that their experience would enable them to address public inquiries effectively.
Amid criticism directed at the Social Security system, Anutin questioned the source of such attacks. When informed by reporters that the criticism came from the People's Party, he expressed disbelief at the notion of internal conflict, questioning how they could criticize their own constituents.
