Anutin Charnvirakul Appointed as Thailand’s 32nd Prime Minister for Second Term

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul accepted the royal command appointing him as the 32nd Prime Minister for his second term. He committed to performing his duties with honesty and integrity, prioritizing the interests of the nation and its people. His family and coalition partners offered their congratulations.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siroj Paetpan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, arrived at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters to present the Royal Decree appointing Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister. The decree was then escorted to the designated location for the formal reception of the Royal Command. The Secretary-General read out the Royal Decree, stating His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn's issuance of the decree.

On March 19, 2026, the House of Representatives voted to approve Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul's appointment as Prime Minister with a majority of more than half of the total number of members. By virtue of the power vested in Section 158 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, His Majesty the King appointed Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister, effective from March 19, 2026. The order was countersigned by Mr. Sophon Saram, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, upon receiving the royal command, expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude for His Majesty's kindness in appointing him as Prime Minister. He pledged to diligently perform his duties, upholding the national interest, the well-being of the people, and the prosperity of Thailand, in accordance with His Majesty's aspirations and the spirit of the Constitution.

Reporters noted Mr. Anutin's emotional expression of gratitude for His Majesty's benevolence, with his voice trembling and eyes red. Immediately after the ceremony, Mr. Anutin knelt before his parents and embraced his wife and children. He greeted the coalition government parties and Bhumjaithai Party MPs who came to congratulate him and took photos with his family.

The Charnvirakul family, along with members of parliament from the Bhumjaithai Party, attended the ceremony to receive the royal decree and offer their congratulations. Representatives from coalition government parties also attended, including leaders from the Pheu Thai Party, Palang Pracharath Party, and smaller parties.
