Anutin Charnvirakul Campaigns in Siam Square, Targets Young Voters

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul visited Siam Square to connect with young voters, rallying support for both "Uncle Tu" (Prayut Chan-o-cha) and himself, "Uncle Nu" (Anutin Charnvirakul). He engaged with the public and vendors, even participating in a spontaneous interview. His son, Peck Lakshmana, made an appearance to support his father's campaign efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, was accompanied by party candidates, the economic team, and key figures during his campaign to support Ms. Patcharin Samsiripong, the candidate for Bangkok's District 2. He emphasized that the campaign was not exhausting, mentioning frequent visits to Siam Square, where he interacted with vendors and the public. A vendor expressed her anticipation for the government's co-payment scheme, while foreign tourists took selfies with him.

Mr. Saranee Chanvirakul, Anutin's son, surprised his father with encouragement during the campaign. Meanwhile, as Anutin and his team took a break at a local tea shop, they encountered the Rak Chart Party, led by Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn and Mr. Jetsada Tonawanik, who were also campaigning. The parties exchanged greetings and took photographs together.

In addition to political engagements, popular YouTubers Koy, Nutty, and Dream conducted a campaign on a referendum about drafting a new constitution. Mr. Anutin expressed his agreement and took a photo with the YouTubers. Conversely, Ms. Sabida Thaiseth opposed the new constitution, suggesting a detailed review was necessary. Mr. Sereeni echoed her sentiments.

Mr. Anutin attracted many supporters, with individuals keen to photograph with him and commit their votes. He humorously reminded them of his party's number, referencing the number 37 on Mr. Varawut's shirt. Youngsters flocked to take photos with Ms. Supajee, adding to the lively atmosphere.

During the event, citizens questioned Mr. Anutin on Thailand's electoral direction. Given options of "Six" and "Progress," he chose "Progress," aligning with Mrs. Supajee's choice. Anutin spoke positively about engaging with young people, acknowledging his growing understanding of their culture and social media influence, which he sees as beneficial for the Bhumjaithai Party.

Mr. Anutin expressed his appeal to those fond of Uncle Tu, asking them to support him since Uncle Tu is not contesting the election. The campaign concluded with Anutin's entourage traveling in an electric tuk-tuk to continue their efforts in Yaowarat, wrapping up their one-day campaign plan to bolster parliamentary candidates in Bangkok.
