Anutin Charnvirakul Embarks on Spiritual Tour Across Phuket’s Historic Shrines

Phuket: Anutin Charnvirakul continues his spiritual journey, visiting ancient shrines in Phuket, ringing the bell 37 times, and applying gold leaf to the fence as part of the Bhumjaithai Party's policy to build a new fence. He jokingly said Thailand has a fence of gold, and that anyone who tries to do anything wrong should seek auspicious blessings first. He also paid respects to Khunying Chan and Khun Muk before continuing his campaign in Phang Nga this afternoon. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, along with his wife, Ms. Thanon Nirami, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, a key figure in the southern region, and Ms. Traisuli Traisaranakul, a Bhumjaithai Party candidate on the party-list for the House of Representatives, visited the Jui Tui Shrine, one of the oldest and most historic shrines in Phuket. They paid respects to the deities and the Golden Gate of Kiu Ong Tai Te, seeking blessings for success, power, and protection. Before leaving, Mr. Anutin applied gold leaf to the shrine's gate and then to the fence, stating that a "golden fence" was also necessary, in line with the Bhumjaithai Party's policy. Mr. Anutin then walked back to the same spot where he had been blessed with good health and the fulfillment of his wishes, before responding in the Chinese tradition with "Ho ho ho." Later, Mr. Anutin rang the bell 37 times and said, "Sa Jap Chik," which means 37 in Teochew Chinese, representing the Bhumjaithai Party's number in the February 8th election. Mr. Anutin stated in an interview that placing gold on the fence signifies that Thailand has a golden fence, which, even if burned, will still remain gold and no one can damage it. As for ringing the bell 37 times, he did so for peace of mind, to assure everyone that he is not being superstitious. Mr. Anutin then visited and paid respects at the monument of Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Sri Sunthorn, together with the Phuket parliamentary candidates, a significant landmark. This was seen as a way to kick off t he campaign in Phuket province before continuing the campaign in Phang Nga province.
