Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has announced plans to advance mega-projects and man-made tourist attractions across Thailand if his party regains power. The emphasis is on a broad approach to attract global tourists, with alternatives to established attractions like Disneyland being considered.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn envisions the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) as a key area for development. The EEC's significant potential and vast land area make it an ideal location for new tourist attractions aimed at boosting the country's economic potential.
Anutin highlighted the importance of preparing the country with necessary infrastructure and safety measures to accommodate potential investors. While specific projects like Disneyland or Universal Studios were not named, the focus remains on making Thailand an attractive destination for investors by enhancing transportation and ensuring tourist safety.
Anutin further stated that if the Bhumjaithai Party returns to power, it would conduct studies on existing and potential projects within the EEC to foster foreign investment. The aim is to create a win-win situation benefiting both investors and the nation.
When questioned about the intention behind the EEC's mega-projects, Anutin clarified that attracting tourists is a key objective. However, the development plans are not confined to the EEC region alone. He assured that a stable, peaceful, and sustainable Thailand would be prioritized, with efforts to develop all sectors of the country.
Anutin emphasized Thailand's strengths in cultural, traditional, historical, and religious attractions, combined with modern elements and natural resources like mountains and seas. These strengths, he proposed, should be developed to maximize Thailand's appeal as a global tourist destination.
