Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has affirmed his commitment to safeguarding Thailand’s interests as he moves forward with negotiations to address the Prasat Ta Kwai issue in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. He emphasized the importance of influencers expressing patriotism without breaking the law.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin highlighted the progress made on the disputed area, stating that the government is actively engaging with the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) to secure an official resolution. The Prime Minister insisted that the negotiations must rely on evidence, information, and adherence to proper international legal procedures.
Anutin expressed confidence in the JBC’s negotiating team, noting, “We already have a JBC negotiating team and will carefully and gradually unlock each issue.” He addressed concerns about certain influencer groups planning activities to reclaim Prasat Ta Kwai, reiterating that while patriotism is encouraged, actions must comply with both Thai and international legal frameworks.
The Prime Minister also touched upon the ongoing dispute over the Ban Nong Chan area in Sa Kaeo Province, which remains contested by both Thailand and Cambodia. Anutin explained that this area is classified under “Condition 4” of the joint discussions, necessitating a thorough investigation by expert teams and the JBC using technological evidence.
In closing, Anutin reiterated his unwavering directive to all involved agencies, stating, “We must protect Thailand above all else.”
