Anutin Directs Authorities to Manage Vote Recount Protests with Care

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul has directed police and administrative officials to handle the demands for a vote recount with gentleness, recognizing it as a lawful right.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, who also leads the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed the situation by instructing administrative authorities, including provincial governors, district officers, and police, to manage the protests and assist citizens with inquiries. He mentioned that the decision regarding a recount rests with the Election Commission and related agencies, as he has not reviewed the relevant regulations and rules.

When questioned about concerns over potential escalation due to protests against the vote counting process in various areas, Mr. Anutin assured that the police and local authorities are committed to maintaining order. He emphasized that officials have been instructed to understand the situation and proceed with a respectful approach, acknowledging the public's right to protest within legal boundaries.
