Anutin Seeks Early Policy Announcement in Parliament

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, entered Parliament today with the expectation that the Speaker will schedule the government’s policy announcement on September 29-30. He expressed confidence in addressing any inquiries from the opposition, including those posed by appointed generals, but refrained from commenting on Sino-Thai’s involvement in a recent road collapse incident.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin arrived at Parliament at 2:15 PM, where the House of Representatives was in session. He attended the meeting as a member of the House of Representatives, with several agenda items on the table. When questioned about the preparation of his policy statement, Anutin confirmed that the documents were ready and awaited the Speaker’s confirmation of the announcement date. He emphasized his preference for an early schedule, ideally on September 29 or 30.

When asked about potential scrutiny from four generals in the opposition regarding the government’s policies, Anutin remarked that such questioning is a standard part of parliamentary procedure. He stated that the Cabinet must be prepared to clarify and respond to any queries from fellow parliamentarians. However, when the conversation shifted to the issue of road subsidence potentially linked to Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited (STECON), Anutin chose not to comment, instead smiling and leaving the interview.
