Anutin Stresses Need for Stable Government Amid Election Uncertainty

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, emphasized the importance of establishing a stable government as he commented on the current political climate in Thailand. In his role as the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, Anutin acknowledged the ongoing wait for the Election Commission's certification of election results and expressed the necessity of patience during this period.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed rumors about potential discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thamanat Promphao, regarding government formation and possible coalitions with the Pheu Thai Party. He stated, "There's nothing yet. We have to wait for the Election Commission (EC) to certify the results. Any moves we make must be made after the EC officially certifies the election results. Right now, we can only prepare. We're still considering the options."

Anutin reiterated the need for the Election Commission to certify results, adhering to the legal framework that requires certification within 60 days. With only two days passed since the election, he urged for patience to allow the Commission time to complete its work. When questioned about the urgency of establishing a government to address pending public matters, Anutin acknowledged having several processes and ideas under consideration but refrained from providing specific details.

When probed about the potential speed of forming a government post-certification, Anutin stated, "I can't answer anything now. Please don't ask me anything right now." He also declined to disclose details about the formulas being discussed for government formation, emphasizing instead the need for a stable government.

Faced with questions about the number of votes required to form a government, Anutin maintained his discretion, smiling but opting not to provide a direct answer.
