Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army spokesman revealed that Cambodia continues to violate ceasefire measures, emphasizing that Thai troops are ready to defend sovereignty and have the right to self-defense under the United Nations Charter.
According to Thai News Agency, Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvari detailed the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border following a report from the Second Army Area Operations Center. From last night until the early hours of today, units detected Cambodian soldiers firing small arms and heard sounds resembling grenades being thrown into the Thai defensive barbed wire area. Additionally, drones were detected intruding into the border near Ta Muen Thom Temple in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, and the area of Phlan Hin Paet in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province. These provocative actions are believed to be intended to gauge Thai retaliation and test the Thai force’s deployment.
These findings represent significant evidence demonstrating Cambodia’s continued violations of ceasefire measures and its continued attempts to provoke Thai military personnel. The Army spokesman stated that Thailand has prepared its forces with strict readiness and emphasized that personnel must perform their duties with patience and restraint, and must maintain close vigilance and observation. Should any intrusion into Cambodia’s territory or hostile actions be detected, the Army is prepared to immediately exercise its right of self-defense, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, to uphold and protect Thailand’s sovereignty.
