Bangkok: Astronauts at the International Space Station sent Christmas and New Year greetings. The four astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Mike Fink, Chris Williams, Sena Cardman, and Yui Kimiya, sent Christmas messages from space to bring joy to people on Earth during the holiday season. They greeted Earth, friends, and family from their 74th mission aboard the ISS, high above the Earth, saying they missed everyone during the holidays – a time to spend with family and friends, having fun together. They reflected on the past year, saying it was a great year for them as astronauts on mission 74, and the previous 73rd was a little sad because they weren’t with their families, but they were with their ‘space family,’ so they were okay. They looked forward to celebrating the holidays together, not just on the ISS, but with all their friends at mission control centers around the world. They said they would celebrate together and enjoy sharing this time with everyone.
According to Thai News Agency, Mike Fink concluded by saying, “From all of us on the International Space Station, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
The four astronauts also prepared a Christmas dinner packed in vacuum-sealed bags, including smoked turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes, and desserts like fruit cake, as well as special non-alcoholic drinks. Inside the station, a small artificial Christmas tree and Christmas stockings hung in the weightless environment. Additionally, there were reindeer crafted from scrap materials and cargo bags to add to the festive atmosphere on the space station.
