Kathmandu: A 15-member Australian rescue team has arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, to assist in search and rescue operations following a major flash flood and landslide in the Himalayas. The team, predominantly consisting of drone experts, responded to a request from the Nepalese government for technical and specialized support in the ongoing rescue efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, the disaster, which occurred last month due to a glacial collapse, has left approximately 5,000 individuals missing. This number includes 583 foreigners, with 36 identified as Australians. In response, seven additional experts from the Australian Police, specializing in victim identification, are set to arrive today to bolster the search efforts.
