Baht Strengthens to Over One-Week High Amid Foreign Investment in Thai Bonds

Bangkok: The baht reached its strongest level in over a week, trading at 32.25 baht per dollar before closing at 32.34 baht per dollar. This marks an improvement compared to the previous day’s close of 32.40 baht per dollar.

According to Thai News Agency, the Kasikorn Research Center indicated that the strengthening of the baht aligns with trends observed in most Asian currencies. This shift is likely due to foreign investors’ net buying of Thai bonds. Meanwhile, the US dollar has faced downward pressure due to uncertainties surrounding US tariffs, tensions with trading partners, and potential Federal Reserve interest rate cuts this year. On the fund flow front, foreign investors were net sellers of Thai stocks, amounting to 297.85 million baht, but were net buyers of Thai bonds, totaling 1.401 billion baht.

The baht’s movement for tomorrow is initially projected within the range of 32.20-32.45 baht per dollar. Critical factors to observe include foreign fund flows, global gold price trends, and the ongoing US trade war with its trading partners.
