Bangkok: The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has implemented a parking prohibition on Soi Sri Aksorn, Mekhasawat, and Prasatsuk to enhance traffic flow in the Yannawa-Sathorn area, effective immediately.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that a regulation put forth by the Chief Traffic Officer in Bangkok has been published in the Royal Gazette and will take effect on February 18, 2026.
The deputy spokesperson explained that the regulation aims to facilitate traffic flow and improve safety in inner-city areas that are witnessing continuous growth of residential projects and educational institutions. Parking restrictions are as follows: on Soi Sri Aksorn, parking is not allowed on alternating sides of the street on even and odd days at all times. Additionally, no parking is allowed on both sides of the street from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Further restrictions include a complete parking ban on both sides of Soi Mekhasawat, Soi Mekhasawat Intersection 1, and Soi Prasatsuk at all times. These measures were signed into regulation on June 26, 2025, and officially published in the Royal Gazette on February 17, 2026.
Ms. Periswiwatana urged the public and road users in the affected areas to comply with the new regulations to avoid legal infractions and contribute to creating orderly traffic, reducing congestion, and enhancing safety for all.
