Bangkok Police Raid Major Gambling Dens, Arrest Hundreds

Bangkok: Police raided two major gambling dens in central Bangkok, arresting hundreds of gamblers.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Provincial Administration conducted simultaneous raids on two gambling locations, resulting in the arrest of over 100 individuals.

A special operations unit from the Department of Provincial Administration targeted the first gambling den located in the Hathairat area, following public complaints. Undercover agents had been gathering intelligence and found that the venue had been rented by a project developer since November 2025, ostensibly for use as a warehouse. Initially operating intermittently, the gambling den eventually opened around the clock, limiting player numbers and rotating them due to crowded conditions. Preliminary investigations estimate a daily turnover of at least 1 million baht. At this location, 63 gamblers, including 33 men and 30 women, were apprehended, and over 300,000 baht in cash was seized along with gambling equipment. The suspects and evidence were transferred to the Nimit Mai Police Station for prosecution.

In the Seri Thai area, another gambling den was raided, resulting in the arrest of 41 gamblers, comprising 21 men and 20 women. Approximately 50,000 baht in cash was confiscated, along with equipment for playing dice. These suspects were handed over to investigators at Bueng Kum Police Station for further legal action.

Officials noted the existence of several other illegal gambling operations still active in Bangkok. The simultaneous raids are expected to prompt the temporary closure of many other gambling dens in the city.
