Bangkok: The body of a young tour guide, who was a victim of a speedboat explosion, has been found trapped beneath the hull of the vessel in the sea off Phuket.
According to Thai News Agency, the tragic incident occurred at Coco Pier, Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province, during the morning hours of April 6, 2026. The explosion happened while a mechanic was engaged in engine repairs. Initially, five people sustained injuries and the tour guide was reported missing. The boat subsequently sank, prompting ongoing recovery efforts by various agencies to locate the missing individual.
Rescue teams and divers from the Phuket Charity Foundation have successfully located the body of the missing tour guide. The victim had succumbed to burns and was found trapped under the sunken boat's hull. Authorities have brought the body ashore, and investigations are underway to determine the precise cause of the explosion.
