Bangkok: The Bus Terminal Authority (BTA) is preparing for a significant increase in travelers today, with expectations that approximately 150,000 people will use the bus services.
According to Thai News Agency, the BTA reported a busy day yesterday, with over 130,000 passengers utilizing more than 7,700 bus trips. The data, revealed by Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd. (BKS), highlighted that 77,790 passengers traveled on outbound routes from Bangkok, whereas 53,124 passengers were on return trips, totaling 130,914 passengers. The BKS managed these operations efficiently, ensuring no passengers were left stranded.
The BKS also collaborated with the Department of Land Transport and local police to address issues of fake ticket sales at the Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal. They successfully arranged for buses to transport affected passengers and advised the public to purchase tickets only from authorized counters. Any observed irregularities should be reported to authorities.
Today, with the expected surge, over 7,000 to 8,000 bus trips, both government-owned and private, will be operational. The government-owned bus company has arranged nearly 1,000 additional non-scheduled buses to accommodate the increase in travelers.
Passengers with advance bookings for routes to the Northern and Northeastern regions, particularly for departures from 6:00 PM onwards, are advised to verify their travel details and boarding points. Departures on December 29-30, 2025, will be from Bangkok Central Station, Gate 2, with additional buses leaving from the Mochit 2 Bus Terminal. Travelers are encouraged to arrive at least an hour early to avoid traffic congestion.
