Bus Terminal Prepares for Holiday Travel Surge with 100,000 Expected Travelers

Bangkok: The Bus Terminal Authority (BTA) has announced preparations for an expected surge of over 100,000 travelers today, December 27, as people continue to head back to their hometowns and embark on trips for the New Year's holiday.

According to Thai News Agency, the BTA reported that yesterday, December 26, a total of 134,280 passengers traveled using 6,888 bus trips to return to their hometowns for the holiday season. The Bus Terminal Authority ensured that sufficient services were provided, and no passengers were left without transportation. Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd. (BKS), shared that between 100,000 to 120,000 people are expected to travel today, with approximately 6,000 bus trips planned. To better accommodate passengers during this busy travel period, BKS has prepared about 800 to 1,000 additional non-scheduled buses with 30 seats each.

Yesterday's statistics showed 79,608 passengers traveled outbound, while 54,672 passengers returned, totaling 134,280 commuters who successfully reached their destinations without any issues related to transportation. Both government-owned and privately operated buses were utilized for outbound and return trips, with operations smoothly managed by the BKS.

Travelers who have booked tickets for routes heading to the North and Northeast regions for departure from 6:00 PM onwards are advised to confirm their travel information and boarding points. Buses today are scheduled to depart from Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) or Mochit 2, with additional services from Bangkok Central Station, Gate 2.
