Bangkok: Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, has announced that an upcoming Cabinet meeting scheduled for April 6 will focus on reviewing the oil price structure and refining margins. This announcement comes as the government seeks to alleviate the financial burden on citizens, particularly in relation to fuel prices and living costs.
According to Thai News Agency, Pipat expressed his gratitude on social media for the public's feedback and concerns regarding high fuel prices and the cost of living. He assured citizens that their voices are being heard and emphasized the government's commitment to restructuring fuel prices ahead of the Songkran festival. Pipat stated that the review would address refining costs and price structures, which significantly impact the transportation sector.
Pipat elaborated that the Transportation Situation Monitoring Center has been actively compiling data and making observations on costs such as transportation, insurance, and war premiums, which do not accurately reflect the current situation. The aim is to ensure that oil prices more accurately represent true costs, given their substantial influence on passenger fares.
In addition, Pipat highlighted that the Ministry of Transport intends to monitor the situation closely to prevent the burden of costs from being transferred to the public. By adhering to the principle of fair fares, the ministry aims to ensure that citizens do not incur unnecessary expenses and that there is sufficient fuel available to support travel during the holiday period.
