Sisaket: At the Kantharalak border in Sisaket province, the gunfire has ceased, but villagers remain distrustful of the Cambodians. The border at Kantaralak has returned to calm, but the public remains wary of Cambodia, fearing a renewed clash. Meanwhile, the mine clearance unit is urgently collecting fragments of a BM-21 grenade launcher near Nong Ya Kaeo village. In Nong Chan village, Sa Kaeo province, the Commander of the 1st Army Area visited the area to offer support to the local population and soldiers.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters visited villages along the Thai-Cambodian border in Kantaralak District, Sisaket Province, after the fighting between Thailand and Cambodia had subsided. The overall situation was peaceful. However, remnants of artillery shell damage remain in the area, with many houses and structures severely damaged in some spots. Relevant agencies will need to survey and repair the damage to restore the areas to their original condition. When questioned, residents in the area said they immediately returned home after hearing about the 72-hour ceasefire, but they still do not trust Cambodia.
The mine clearance unit is urgently recovering parts of the BM-21. In the border area near Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung Subdistrict, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, the Humanitarian Mine Action Unit 1 (HMAU 1) deployed to the area to collect fragments of BM-21 rockets that Cambodian soldiers fired into civilian farmland. A significant amount of land belonging to local residents has been affected in this area.
However, officials have verified that the rocket to be recovered was fully functional, and the recovery of any remaining debris is to create a safe area, restoring 100 percent confidence to the public so they can resume their livelihoods and support their families.
Commander of the 1st Army Area visited Nong Chan village to offer encouragement to villagers and soldiers. Lieutenant General Worayot Luangsuwan, Commander of the 1st Army Region, traveled to Nong Chan village, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province. Upon arrival, he met and spoke with the affected residents to listen to their problems and offer encouragement. He also distributed essential supplies to the soldiers serving on the front lines before joining the villagers for a meal in a friendly atmosphere, which provided reassurance to the people in the area.
