Bangkok: The meeting of the Civil Service Commission has commenced to address the removal of 3,621 civil servants. Chaired by Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the Central Committee for Local Government Employee Examinations (CGE) is considering the revocation of these individuals' appointments due to allegations of exam score manipulation.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting is attended by several key figures from the Department of Local Administration, including Mr. Wanchai Chanporn, Chairman of the Department, and Mr. Nirat Pongsitthithavorn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, acting as Director-General of the Department of Local Administration. Mr. Nirat questioned the legitimacy of the 3,621 individuals' exam results, emphasizing the presence of evidence justifying the revocation and dismissing the notion that the individuals are scapegoats.
Mr. Nirat clarified that the authority to revoke the approval lies with the person who initially signed it, adding that a joint meeting will clarify the legal framework for this process. He indicated that the revocation should take effect immediately, pending confirmation from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and the National Statistical Office (NSO).
As for future meetings, Mr. Niwat mentioned that the central committee would have to assess any additional issues submitted by the Civil Service Commission. Mr. Wanchai Chanporn, when asked about the authority to revoke the licenses, reiterated that the outcome of the deliberation is pending and emphasized the need for a clear decision from the committee.
The results of this meeting are awaited to determine the next steps in addressing the issue of exam manipulation and the revocation process.
