Chelsea Sacks Enzo Maresca Amidst Underwhelming Results

London: Chelsea Football Club has announced the sudden departure of Italian manager Enzo Maresca, less than two years after he took over at Stamford Bridge. Reports indicate that the Chelsea board held an emergency meeting to discuss Maresca's future following his inability to secure victories in the last three matches and only one win in the last seven. Maresca's first season saw him lead Chelsea to victory in the UEFA Europa Conference and the Club World Cup, but he failed to maintain that standard this season and was also plagued by issues regarding player management and adherence to the club's policies.

According to Thai News Agency, the person who will take over as interim manager is Callum McFarlane, head coach of the U21 team, for the upcoming game away at Manchester City. This is a tough task, as Chelsea have never beaten Manchester City in their last 11 meetings.

Regarding the search for a new manager, several names have emerged: Xavi Hernandez, Liam Rosenior, Oliver Glasner, Unai Emery, and Cesc Fabregas. The leading candidate, according to many media outlets, is Liam Rosenior, the 41-year-old English manager of Strasbourg, a Ligue 1 team in France and part of the same ownership as Chelsea. Rosenior previously played for the England Under-21 team and has managed Fulham, Hull City, Reading, and Brighton before taking on roles at Derby County and Hull City.

Chelsea are currently in 5th place in the league table and have also advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
