Chiang Mai Rally Sees “Kla Tham” Unveil Ambitious Policy Agenda

Chiang mai: The Chiang Mai political rally witnessed a significant moment as the "Kla Tham" political party unveiled a comprehensive policy package aimed at transforming the region's socio-economic landscape. The policy package focuses on tourism development, alleviating poverty, valuing the elderly, and addressing drug trafficking in a systemic manner. Prominent figures, including "Professor Mam," criticized rival parties as "fake," while "Thammanat" emphasized his authenticity, stating, "Choose me, get me; I'm not a shadow prime minister."

According to Thai News Agency, on January 25, 2026, the Kla Tham Party organized a campaign rally at the Chiang Mai 700th Anniversary Stadium. The event, held in the Don Kaeo Subdistrict of Mae Rim District, drew a large crowd of supporters. Key party leaders, including Captain Thamanat Phromphao, the party's chief advisor and prime ministerial candidate; Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, the party leader; and Ms. Paveena Hongsakul, the party's chief social advisor, took the stage to back the party's candidates for Member of Parliament (MP) in Chiang Mai.

Ms. Paweena addressed the gathering, highlighting Northern Thailand's critical role in generating tourism revenue, with its numerous natural and cultural attractions. She emphasized the Kla Tham Party's commitment to boosting tourism as a vital tool for combating poverty. She also outlined a policy to provide vocational training for the elderly, particularly those recently retired, to enhance their involvement in the tourism sector and improve their physical and mental well-being.

The Kla Tham Party's policies also include establishing free community childcare centers to support low-income families, offering a safe and developmental environment for children while aiding working parents.

Professor Dr. Narumon criticized rival parties for nominating multiple prime ministerial candidates, creating public confusion. She asserted that only Captain Thamanat was nominated as the prime minister candidate by the Kla Tham Party, ensuring clarity and genuine leadership.

Captain Thamanat Phromphao, during his speech, stressed the importance of judging him by his past accomplishments rather than promises. He highlighted the party's successful policies on childcare, elderly care, and women's safety. He reiterated the Kla Tham Party's dedication to delivering tangible results, citing achievements in agricultural reforms and land access as proof of their commitment.

In closing, Captain Thamanat assured the audience of his authenticity and dedication, stating, "Today, if you choose me, you get me, the real deal, the real voice, the real work for the people. You don't get a shadow prime minister."
