China Targets Over 250,000 Online Fraud Cases by 2025

Beijing: China has announced an ambitious plan to tackle online fraud, aiming to address over 250,000 cases nationwide by the year 2025. This initiative marks a significant step in the country's ongoing efforts to combat digital crime and protect its citizens from fraud-related activities.

According to Thai News Agency, China's Ministry of Public Security reported that in the year 2025, Chinese authorities cracked down on 258,000 cases of telecommunications and online fraud across the nation. This led to the seizure of over 21.7 million yuan, equivalent to approximately 97.6 million baht, in funds related to these fraudulent activities. In addition, law enforcement officials arrested 542 individuals, including accomplices, leaders, and key members of fraud gangs.

The efforts to combat online fraud extend beyond China's borders. Chinese police have bolstered international law enforcement collaboration with neighboring countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia. This cooperative approach has resulted in the deportation of over 7,600 Chinese nationals suspected of involvement in online fraud from Myawaddy, Myanmar, back to China.
