Chulaphan Confident in Pheu Thai’s Campaign Gains Despite Concerns Over Advance Voting

Bangkok: "Chulaphan" is optimistic about Pheu Thai's ability to catch up, citing positive feedback after a week of campaigning in the area.

According to Thai News Agency, Chulaphan Amornvivat, leader and prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai Party, expressed confidence in the party's strategy, which includes debates and rallies, as well as the presence of key figures like Professor Yoschanan Wongsawat to engage with the public. Chulaphan mentioned that the party is fully prepared to adapt its approach as needed and plans to unveil two significant policies aimed at addressing public concerns.

Chulaphan addressed public perception and polling data, noting that while some polls suggest Pheu Thai might be trailing, the party's popularity is rising, particularly for candidate Yotsanun. He emphasized that the party's strong performance in the 2023 election is indicative of its potential to lead, despite past setbacks. He stressed the importance of hard work in demonstrating the party's commitment to its policies.

Discussing the political landscape in Bangkok, Chulaphan dismissed the notion that the election is solely a contest between the People's Party and the Democrat Party. He highlighted the positive reception Pheu Thai has received across various communities and reiterated the importance of their forthcoming policy announcements.

Chulaphan acknowledged challenges faced by candidates, including corruption and the destruction of campaign materials. He urged all political parties to emphasize the integrity of campaign activities and pointed out that recent vandalism of Pheu Thai signs signals the party's growing support. He also called on all parties to reinforce the message of preventing such damages.

Of particular concern to Chulaphan is the issue of corruption, specifically regarding the collection of citizen ID cards and unusually high advance voter registrations in certain areas. He expressed worry that these could indicate vote-buying activities. Chulaphan urged the Election Commission to diligently monitor and address these issues to ensure fair election practices.

Chulaphan mentioned that data on advance voting will be compiled and reviewed, as some regions have reported numbers significantly above average. He noted that historically, similar patterns have been linked to vote-buying schemes. The party remains vigilant and committed to ensuring a transparent electoral process.
