Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and the President of the Ministry of Interior's Wives' Association led a team of trainers to ICONSIAM to promote the initiative "Make Thai Fabric Fun," aiming to coach young people and Thai fabric and handicraft entrepreneurs. The focus is on building brands, developing marketing channels, and elevating Thai traditional crafts to an international level while being environmentally friendly.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, presided over the opening of the workshop on the project to raise awareness and disseminate the ingenuity of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in upgrading and developing Thai textiles and handicrafts. The event, attended by over 300 participants including senior executives, provincial governors, and entrepreneurs, aimed to elevate the heritage of Thai textiles and handicrafts through a series of workshops and presentations.
The event featured a video presentation of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana's activities, including exhibitions of textiles and handicrafts from across Thailand. The presentation also included royal textile designs for 2026. A ceremony was held to pay homage to Her Royal Highness's initiatives on "Thai Textiles for Fun" and "Sustainable Fashion." The event also showcased Her Royal Highness's literary works and knowledge-based initiatives, such as a book published by the Ministry of Interior.
Throughout the day, knowledge-sharing activities were conducted by a panel of instructors, focusing on branding, expanding products according to fashion trends, developing market-ready packaging, and environmentally friendly production techniques. Marketing and distribution strategies for online content-based product sales were also covered.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior highlighted that this initiative, now in its fourth year, aims to develop the potential of entrepreneurs to enhance Thai textiles and handicrafts, aligning with the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. The Ministry of Interior, under Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, has played a key role in fostering this participatory approach, with hopes of further elevating Thai textile and handicraft brands to international appeal.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana has focused on preserving and developing Thai textiles and handicrafts, promoting self-reliance in line with the royal initiatives of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Her efforts have been recognized internationally, including a commendation from UNESCO for her contributions to cultural preservation and creative industries.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized the crucial role of provincial governors and district officers in realizing these royal initiatives. He urged them to promote knowledge transfer and preservation across all provinces and districts, ensuring sustainable success and positive impacts on the livelihood and happiness of all Thai people.
