Bangkok: Shocking news for the Election Commission as a court has ordered no extension of time in the "Senate collusion" case. Senator Akkarawat Pongthanachalitkul, a reserve list senator, stormed the Election Commission to deliver decisive news to the new chairman, Mr. Narong Klanwarin. This development follows the rejection of an initial postponement that had been in place since February 22nd. The postponement was originally requested by the EC secretary, citing the parliamentary election as a reason, but the court found this request to be without justifiable reason. This decision marks a significant step towards justice for the public after a year-long legal battle, with the court scheduled to make a crucial ruling on April 20, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akkharawat stated he had been deceived previously and insisted that the process cited by the Election Commission does not exist in practice. He questioned the EC's purpose, asking whether they serve the public or another interest. He asserted that allowing any corrupt individual into parliament would signify a failure of the system. Mr. Akkharawat criticized attempts to delay proceedings, suggesting that the goal was to wait for the current Senate to approve two new EC members, potentially giving them an advantage in the legal case.

Mr. Akkharawat emphasized the need for truth to be revealed swiftly rather than delayed indefinitely. He expressed confidence in the current Election Commission chairman, who has a background in the judiciary, to uphold justice and maintain the integrity of the organization. He warned that if delaying tactics continue, leading to inefficiencies in self-investigation, the public may lose patience and cease paying salaries to an agency that does not uphold justice.
