Democrat Party Ramps Up Efforts Against Air Pollution at Ying Charoen Market

Bangkok: Democrat Party leaders Sakoltee Phatthiyakul and Nene Ratklao have taken a proactive stance against air pollution by campaigning at Ying Charoen Market in District 9. They urged the public to wear masks due to the dangerous orange-red levels of particulate matter, emphasizing the health risks involved. Their visit highlighted the party's commitment to combat PM2.5 pollution through the promotion of three new legislative measures.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, the Deputy Party Leader overseeing Bangkok, along with Mrs. Radklao Intawong Suwannakiri, Deputy Party Leader, and Ms. Vivian Chulamon, the Democrat Party's candidate for Member of Parliament in Bangkok's Constituency 9, visited the Bang Khen district market as part of their campaign. Mr. Sakoltee expressed concerns over the current hazardous PM2.5 levels and encouraged Bangkok residents to wear face masks for protection.

The party's policy focuses on introducing three key laws related to clean air, circular economy, and climate change. These laws aim to provide a balanced approach by offering both incentives and penalties. Transportation policies are also on the agenda, including reducing fares for public transportation to encourage its use and alleviate public expenses. The party proposes international cooperation during Thailand's ASEAN chairmanship to address pollution caused by transboundary wind.

Mr. Sakoltee emphasized that these policies are practical and budget-friendly. He also highlighted the "Thailand Eradicates Poverty" policy, which seeks to reduce inequality and environmental issues through the "Forestry Bonds: Plant Trees and Earn a Monthly Salary" project, led by Ms. Vivian. This initiative encourages reforestation to absorb pollution and improve air quality while providing economic benefits to citizens.

Ms. Vivian elaborated on the forest bond policy, which aims to employ citizens and farmers for tree planting, thus tackling pollution at its source. The policy seeks to propel Thailand toward a sustainable environmental society by pushing for the implementation of the Clean Air Act, Circular Economy Act, and Climate Change Act.

Mr. Sakoltee concluded by introducing Ms. Vivian as the candidate for Bangkok's District 9 and encouraged voters to support her and the Democrat Party in the upcoming general election on February 8th.
