Democrat Party to Investigate Alleged Election Fraud Swiftly

Bangkok: "Sathit" reiterates that if corruption is found to be true, those involved will be immediately dismissed. "Sathit" reiterated that if the Democrat Party finds any candidate violating election laws, they will immediately set up a committee to investigate. If the fraud is confirmed, the candidate will be disqualified.

According to Thai News Agency, Satit Wongnongteuy, deputy leader of the Democrat Party, commented on the alleged vote-buying scandal. He stated that party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva had previously mentioned at a rally that the party's executive committee had resolved to find ways to punish offenders. Wongnongteuy explained that the party believes honest politics starts with themselves. Therefore, the party has resolved that during the election period, if information or complaints are received regarding violations of election laws in any constituency, the party will immediately form a committee to investigate. If wrongdoing is found, the party will publicly announce that it will not support that candidate. He added that while legally it cannot completely sever ties with the politician, it can publicly declare its support or abandon the candidate.
