Deputy Minister Piyarat Advocates for Simplicity in Field Visits

Uttaradit: Deputy Minister Piyarat Tiyapairat of the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry has urged affiliated agencies to avoid the use of signs and welcoming ceremonies during inspection tours, advocating instead for direct engagement with farmers.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Piyarat emphasized this directive during her recent field visit to Uttaradit Province, where she was overseeing the implementation of agricultural policies and water management. She stressed that future visits to other provinces should also eschew elaborate welcoming signs and decorations, focusing instead on the core purpose of these visits-directly hearing from farmers about their challenges.

The Deputy Minister highlighted that the primary aim of these field visits is to gather accurate information from farmers, thus there is little need for resource-intensive welcoming arrangements or formalities. She underscored the importance of simplicity and efficiency, advising that only essential personnel involved in the mission accompany the inspection teams to avoid unnecessary burdens on civil servants.

During her visit, Ms. Piyarat reiterated her commitment to understanding the issues, suggestions, and needs of farmers to develop targeted solutions. She emphasized that attention should be given to the substance of the mission rather than ceremonial aspects.

This approach follows concerns raised over the impact of political officials' field visits on public holidays, which could disrupt the schedules of civil servants not directly involved in these duties. Additionally, there were worries about the potential need for agencies to allocate extra budgets for supporting each visit.
