Bangkok: The Deputy National Police Chief chaired a meeting to drive forward the suppression of technology-related crime nationwide. He revealed that in the past 20 days, over 20,000 online cases have been reported, with damages exceeding 1.3 billion baht. He emphasized the need for immediate arrests and assistance for victims, and stressed the importance of promoting the CYBER CHECK app to build cybersecurity awareness.
According to Thai News Agency, Police General Thana Chuwong, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and Director of the Cyber Crime Suppression Center, chaired a meeting to drive forward the work of the Cyber Crime Suppression Center (CCSC). Police Lieutenant General Surapol Prembutra, Commander of the Technology Crime Investigation Bureau, and representatives from related agencies nationwide participated in the meeting both in person and via teleconference.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police and Deputy Director of the Center, revealed the results of operations during February 1-20, 2026, stating that the Anti Cyber Scam Center (ACSC) received a total of 20,802 online reports of damages exceeding 1,325 million baht. Job and investment scams continued to cause the most damage, with Facebook being the most common platform for these scams.
Regarding the suppression of online gambling and illegal platforms, 64 gambling website operators and 45 individuals involved in other online offenses have been arrested. From October 1, 2025, to February 20, 2026, a total of 275,956 illegal URLs have been blocked. Furthermore, cooperation with Meta Platforms has been established to block gambling websites, illegal loan websites, and advertisements soliciting employment with scammer gangs.
Meanwhile, investigations into Thai citizens returning from neighboring countries and involved in cybercrime cases through the ThaiPoliceOnline system revealed 597 case IDs, resulting in 187 arrest warrants and 55 arrests. The Deputy Commissioner General of Police has instructed all units to expedite assistance to victims in order to minimize further damage, and emphasized the importance of officers utilizing the ThaiPoliceOnline system effectively as a tool for connecting case information.
Furthermore, all areas have been instructed to accelerate public awareness campaigns to build immunity among vulnerable groups, especially youth, against falling victim to call center scams. The public is also advised to use the CYBER CHECK application to check suspicious phone numbers, bank account numbers, SMS messages, online links, and social media accounts as a "cyber vaccine" to sustainably protect against online threats.
The authorities emphasized the need to expand the investigation and arrest the entire network of offenders, especially those involved in the illegal sale and advertising of firearms through online platforms, in order to ensure the long-term safety of people's lives and property.
