Ubon ratchathani: Dr. Jetsada has issued a warning to the government, emphasizing the need to not overlook the Thai-Cambodian border situation while focusing on the Middle East conflict. He called for the cancellation of MOUs 43 and 44 and immediate reorganization efforts to address the border issues effectively.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jetsada Tonawanik, the Rak Chart Party's prime ministerial candidate, expressed his concerns during a visit to Chong An Ma, located in the Phanom Dong Rak mountain range on the Thai-Cambodian border in Tambon Song, Nam Yuen District. He evaluated the implications of the Middle East conflict on Thailand's border security and recommended that the government assess bilateral agreements to resolve disputes decisively. He stressed the importance of evacuating Thai citizens from high-risk areas in the Middle East as a priority, aligning with the Rak Chart Party's stance on maintaining Thailand's neutrality and avoiding violence.
Mr. Jetsada highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of Thai citizens in affected regions, advocating for their immediate return if necessary. He reiterated the party's agreement with other political entities on not endorsing conflict or violence, asserting Thailand's neutral position on the international stage.
Addressing national border security, Mr. Jetsada pointed out the ongoing fragility of the Thai-Cambodian border situation. He underscored the necessity of enhancing the armed forces' capabilities to prepare for potential threats and safeguard national sovereignty, emphasizing the need for readiness to address any issues that may arise.
Mr. Jetsada also communicated a message to the Prime Minister regarding border management, specifically mentioning the significance of MOUs 43 and 44. He argued that revoking MOU 43 would lead to more effective border management and territorial demarcation between Thailand and Cambodia, ultimately resolving disputes and allowing each country to reside within clearly defined areas.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Jetsada reminded Thai society of the importance of self-reliance in resolving the Thai-Cambodian border conflict. He urged unity among Thai citizens, stressing that overcoming this challenging situation would be difficult without collective cooperation and effort.
