Bangkok: DSI has released 121 boxes of documents from the Office of the Auditor General’s Department building collapse case, confirming that they are useful for the case and preparing to submit them to the case file. The Office of the Auditor General’s representative revealed that 30 boxes of documents from the contractor alone have been returned, with some of them already returned. Meanwhile, 8 engineers have provided information and are currently being questioned.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning (DPT) have invited representatives from the State Audit Office (SAO), PKW joint venture, and Italian-Thai Development Co., Ltd., the owner of the documents in the containers, to jointly open 121 boxes of documents seized from 26 containers at the construction site of the new Office of the Auditor General (OAG), for use in compiling the case file.
After more than 5 hours of document opening and sorting, officials have opened all 121 boxes of documents, but are in the process of checking to sort the documents. Initially, the separated documents were considered useful and were documents that the DSI needed. Some of them will be considered for inclusion in the case file.
As for the 8 engineers called in for questioning today, initially all 8 have arrived and are currently in the process of questioning. From the first day, 25 out of 40 have been questioned. Tomorrow will be the last day of questioning. As for the engineers who did not come as scheduled, they will be called in to give their statements again this week. As for the case that the DSI is responsible for, if there is any progress, the officers will report it to the media again.
While the representative of the State Audit Office was returning, reporters tried to ask about the documents that were opened today. The representative of the State Audit Office stated that they were documents related to the contractor. As for whether there were any irregularities in the documents, he did not know and had not considered it yet. The State Audit Office’s documents that were opened today totaled 30 boxes, some of which were returned, but he did not know how many boxes of other companies’ documents were.
The Special Case Investigation Team stated that the testimonies of the 25 engineering witnesses have now been summarized as follows: On April 29, 2015, 7 engineering witnesses came to meet the investigators, 6 of whom admitted to forging the signatures and 1 admitted to having his own signature.
On April 30, 2015, 10 engineering witnesses came to the meeting, 6 of whom admitted to forging the signatures and 4 of whom admitted to having their signatures as their own.
On May 1, 2015, 8 engineering witnesses came to meet the investigators and admitted that 7 of them forged the signatures and 1 of them admitted that it was their own signature.
