Ekanat Emphasizes Election Outcome Amid Criticism of Prime Minister Targeting

Bangkok: Ekanat Promphan has stated that the outcome of the political situation hinges on the election results, following criticism for allegedly pre-determining the Prime Minister and appointing a cabinet prematurely. He underscored the reality of potential conflicts, emphasizing that nationalist policies should not be exaggerated. Ekanat highlighted that the Bhumjaithai Party is dedicated to action and building the forefront, while fellow party member Thitiphas Chotdechachainant remains optimistic about overcoming the current political climate, despite a prolonged absence of grassroots outreach in Bang Kapi and Wang Thonglang.

According to Thai News Agency, Ekanat Promphan, a prominent figure in the Bhumjaithai Party and its Bangkok campaign team, actively campaigned at Suan Phruek Market to support Ms. Thitiphas, the party's candidate for Member of Parliament in the Bang Kapi-Wang Thonglang district. During his visit, he encouraged the public to vote on February 8, 2026, and support Ms. Thitiphas, who is running under candidate numbers 13 and 37 for the Bhumjaithai Party. The campaign event saw the public offering flowers in a show of support.

In an interview, Ekanat expressed his commitment to supporting Ms. Thitiphas as they have been part of the same team since their tenure at the Ministry of Industry. He reported receiving positive feedback from the local community and emphasized the importance of electing qualified Members of Parliament to lead the country.

Addressing the "Sud Soi" strategy, Ekanat stated that the Bhumjaithai Party will continue to confront issues affecting the public without fear. He highlighted the party's ongoing efforts to tackle illicit businesses, counterfeit goods, and illegal waste imports, which have been priorities since his time as Minister of Industry. Ekanat conveyed his determination to persist with the "Sud Soi" initiative if re-elected.

Ekanat also responded to accusations of the Bhumjaithai Party compromising nationalism for Bangkok's benefit. He reaffirmed the party's commitment to preserving Thailand's sovereignty and supporting the military in maintaining security. He announced that Ekniti Supajee Sihasak would be appointed Deputy Prime Minister if the party forms a government.

Regarding criticism of prematurely appointing Anutin as Prime Minister, Ekanat clarified that the party is transparently announcing its policies during the campaign. He stressed the importance of public choice in elections and acknowledged the ongoing crisis in Thailand, which encompasses security and foreign policy challenges.

In the context of the competitive elections in the South, Ekanat welcomed the political competition and emphasized the importance of politicians volunteering to represent the people. He acknowledged the uncertainty of success, emphasizing that the outcome relies on the electorate's decision.
