Ekniti and Supajee to Announce Results of WEF 2026 Participation

Bangkok: Ekniti Nitithanprapas and Supajee Suthamphan are set to announce the outcomes of the World Economic Forum 2026, focusing on the achievements of Team Thailand and enhancing Thailand's global economic presence to boost international investor confidence.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that following the Cabinet meeting tomorrow, there will be a press conference to summarize Thailand's participation in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, held from January 19-23, 2026. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, along with Minister of Commerce, Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, will jointly present the report on the mission achievements and outcomes from the meeting.

The government spokesperson stated that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul places a priority on promoting Thailand's credibility on the global economic stage. He assigned Team Thailand, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthamphan, and Secretary-General of the Board of Investment (BOI) Narut Therdsathirasak, to participate in the World Economic Forum 2026. This participation was successful in enhancing confidence in Thailand, expanding cooperation networks with international leaders, reflecting Thailand's role on the world stage, and facilitating discussions with executives from leading global companies to further investment and cooperation projects that will benefit the Thai economy in the future.

Team Thailand achieved important goals by participating in this meeting, with Mr. Ekniti highlighting three outcomes: reinforcing Thailand's image as a country with potential, a clear policy direction, neutrality amidst geopolitical challenges, and readiness to be a base for new economic cooperation; negotiating with executives of leading global companies to promote concrete investment, especially in New S-Curve industries, creating business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, and developing Thai labor skills for future global demands; and building cooperation to host the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings 2026 in Bangkok, reflecting Thailand's potential to host world-class events and its leadership role in ASEAN.

Regarding the role of the Ministry of Commerce, Ms. Supajee has continuously participated in significant meetings and activities, including speaking on "Recording Trade" to present ASEAN's role under the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), which Thailand chaired. This focused on promoting digital trade and investment, creating new economic opportunities, and sustainable development. She also held discussions with trade ministers from Canada, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.

Mr. Siripong stated that tomorrow's press conference will present an overview of Thailand's achievements and future directions, including attracting investment, creating new economic opportunities, enhancing national competitiveness, and positioning Thailand as an economic and cooperation hub in the region, leading to strengthened economic stability, sustainable growth, and tangible long-term benefits for the people.
