Supachai Urges Natthawut to Avoid Linking Senate Collusion and Khao Kradong Cases

Bangkok: Supachai Jaisamut, chairman of the legal working group of the Bhumjaithai Party, has issued a warning to Nattawut Saikua, a campaign assistant for the Pheu Thai Party, regarding his recent comments in Chaiyaphum province. Supachai cautioned Nattawut against associating the Senate collusion case with the ongoing Khao Kradong land dispute in a manner that could be perceived as slanderous toward the Bhumjaithai Party and potentially undermine the court's authority.

According to Thai News Agency, Supachai addressed remarks made by Nattawut that implicated the Bhumjaithai Party and the Minister of Justice in the corruption case surrounding the Senate election and the Khao Kradong land issue. Supachai emphasized that all actions related to these cases have been carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures, with no political interference.

Supachai elaborated on the Senate collusion investigation, which is being conducted jointly by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the Investigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General. He noted that the decision to indict only 8 suspects out of over 1,200 was based on substantial evidence and a lawful decision-making process.

He further clarified that neither the Minister of Justice, Anutin Charnvirakul, nor any other officials have meddled in the DSI's activities. The opinion of the Special Cases Division of the Office of the Attorney General to pursue further investigations into more than 1,200 individuals or related money laundering offenses is a standard procedural step.

Regarding the allegations connected to the Khao Kradong land case, Supachai outlined that it remains a legal matter involving the Department of Land, the State Railway of Thailand, and the land title holders. The case is being examined by the courts through administrative and civil channels, with 34 eviction lawsuits currently active and the land boundary verification under civil procedure.

Supachai concluded that the Bhumjaithai Party has no involvement in the Khao Kradong case and cautioned against linking these issues to defame the party. He stressed the importance of allowing the court process to proceed without external commentary, as such actions could be considered contempt of court and damaging to the party.
