Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) announced that 35 political parties have participated in expressing their opinions on the upcoming referendum.
According to Thai News Agency, the ECT reported that among these parties, 18 expressed support for the referendum, 14 were against it, and 3 held a unique stance.
The ECT had initiated a registration process for political parties to express their interest in the referendum from January 17-19, 2026, using an Open Chat Line group. The selection of representatives to articulate these opinions is set for January 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM. This will be facilitated through a Zoom meeting at the Election Commission Office, where procedures for opinion expression will be explained by the Bangkok Election Director and the Director of the Political Party Development Fund Management Office.
The Zoom session will be organized into two main groups: those in favor and those against the referendum. Each group will select 5 representatives, with a lottery system in place should there be disagreements within the groups. The public consultation event is scheduled for January 27, 2026, at the Centara Life Government Complex and Convention Center, Chaeng Wattana, Bangkok. The event will commence with registration at 9:00 AM, followed by the order of presentations determined by a lottery conducted by the Bangkok Election Director. The consultations are set to start at 10:30 AM.
