Bangkok: Employers are advised to renew work permits by March 31, 2026, for workers from Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
According to Thai News Agency, the government has issued a directive urging employers to renew work permits for these nationals, allowing them to stay and work in the Kingdom for an additional year, until March 31, 2027. This directive is in line with a Cabinet resolution dated December 2, 2025, which extends the previously approved work permits from September 24, 2024. Employers must use the electronic system eworkpermit.doe.go.th to submit necessary documents and pay the required fees.
The renewal process requires employers to submit applications on behalf of the workers, along with supporting documents like medical certificates and insurance or social security documents. A fee of 100 baht per application and 900 baht per work permit is to be paid by the deadline of March 31, 2026. Once approved, workers can legally work in the country until March 31, 2027. Additionally, workers must apply for visa extensions by September 28, 2026, and submit all required documents electronically to secure a temporary stay until the new expiration date.
Failure to complete the renewal process within the specified timeframe will result in legal action against both Thai employers and foreign employees found working without valid permits. Employers and workers are urged to expedite the process to avoid legal complications. For further assistance, inquiries can be directed to Bangkok Metropolitan Employment Offices, provincial employment offices, or the Ministry of Labour hotline.
