Surin: Authorities have initiated the evacuation of residents from border areas into Surin town, providing safety to those affected by ongoing conflict. Temporary shelters in Surin town, capable of housing over 140,000 individuals, have been set up more than 50 kilometers away from the conflict zones.
According to Thai News Agency, the latest developments have highlighted the impact on four districts in Surin Province: Phanom Dong Rak, Kap Choeng, Sangkha, and Buachet. These areas encompass 22 sub-districts and 287 villages, all of which have been affected by the fighting. Authorities have successfully relocated residents to temporary shelters, ensuring their safety from the conflict. Additionally, individuals stranded in bomb shelters have also been evacuated to the city of Surin to avoid the threat posed by nearby hostilities.
In response to the crisis, the local hospital’s blood bank has extended donation hours until 10:00 p.m. to support those injured in the border conflict. The Ministry of Interior has confirmed its readiness to assist in evacuation efforts, coordinating closely with provincial governors along the border. The Ministry emphasized that the unfortunate fatalities among villagers were not due to delays in response but were attributed to the complexities involved in evacuating people from high-risk areas.
