Family Seeks Answers in Sai Mai Motorcycle Incident: Woman Taken to Police Station Instead of Hospital

Sai mai: Relatives of a young woman who lost consciousness after a motorcycle accident are seeking justice after she was taken to a police station by paramedics and later died.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred over a year ago, and the case has not progressed.

The mother of the deceased, Ms. Warisara, is pleading for answers, questioning why her daughter, who collapsed on the roadside, was not taken to a hospital but left at a police station. The accident happened on February 20, 2025, on Ladprao Road in Sai Mai, amidst rainy and slippery conditions.

Initial assessments by rescue workers at the scene noted no severe external injuries but detected alcohol. They attributed her fall to intoxication and transported her to the police station instead of a hospital. She was left unattended for nearly two hours, during which she experienced seizures. Rescue services arrived too late, and Ms. Warisara was pronounced dead at the police station. The autopsy revealed severe internal injuries, including a ruptured lung and liver, massive internal bleeding, and fractured ribs from the accident.

Her mother, Mrs. Samap, expressed her anguish and doubts over the authorities' decision not to seek immediate medical attention for her daughter. She believes timely medical intervention could have saved her daughter's life and hopes to prevent similar incidents for other families.

Ekaphop Lueangprasert of the "Sai Mai Must Survive" Facebook page criticized the decision-making process of officials at the scene. He stressed the importance of hospitalizing accident victims for proper medical evaluation, even when injuries seem minor. The Facebook page plans to coordinate with relevant agencies for justice.

Pol. Col. Marut Sudnongbua, Superintendent of Phaholyothin Police Station, stated that the family filed a complaint, and an investigation is underway. A disciplinary committee will review the actions of the officers on duty. The investigation's initial findings are expected within a couple of weeks. He assured that the investigation is progressing, albeit slowly due to necessary interviews and evidence gathering.
