Khon kaen: Leaving a power bank charging caused a fire that destroyed the accommodation and property of a famous folk music band. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed. The incident occurred at the workers' quarters of the famous Mor Lam (traditional Thai folk music) band "Nu Phara Wisetsilp" in Nong Tum Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. Everyone tried to put out the fire, but because it spread so quickly and intensely, they called the fire department for assistance. It took approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. By the time the fire trucks arrived, the fire had almost completely consumed the area.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Bannawitit, 58 years old, owner of the Mor Lam Nuphara Wisetsilp band, revealed to reporters via telephone that the fire originated in a room where a power bank was charging on the bed. The device overheated and short-circuited, causing the mattress to catch fire and the flames to spread rapidly. Fortunately, no one was in the room at the time of the incident.
This serves as a cautionary tale for the general public, especially those who frequently leave power banks or electronic devices charging unattended, as unexpected incidents can occur. Regularly check the condition of your devices; if any are damaged, worn out, or have been used for a long time, they should be replaced or discarded immediately to prevent costly and potentially life-threatening damage.
Initial estimates put the damage at a total of approximately 300,000 baht, with the workers' living quarters and personal belongings in the room where the fire originated completely destroyed.
