Pathum thani: A fire broke out at the home of Srinum Chernyim, a famous comedian and father of Jeab and Jack Chernyim. The second floor suffered extensive damage, but fortunately, no one was injured.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred yesterday at 11:00 AM when the Pathum Thani Joint Radio Center received a report of a house fire in Phontisarn 8 Village, Khlong Chet Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. The house, a two-story detached building of approximately 100 square meters, belonged to the late comedian Sri Noom Chernyim. At the time of the fire, three individuals were present: Sri Noom's wife, Jack Chernyim, and a daughter. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities. Firefighters arrived promptly and managed to bring the fire under control within an hour, although the ceilings of three bedrooms and the prayer room sustained significant damage. The initial cause is suspected to be an electrical short circuit.
Jeab Chernyim shared his experience of receiving the distressing news while at his noodle shop in Khlong Si, Khlong Luang district. He was informed by his wife that his mother's house was ablaze, prompting him to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, he found that the fire had been contained, thanks to the efforts of neighbors and nearby construction workers. The damage was severe, particularly in the prayer room, where the ceiling had collapsed, and smoke and heat had blackened the walls. Many personal belongings were rendered unusable, and the house, once a symbol of familial warmth, was left in ruins.
The fire is believed to have originated from an electrical short circuit in an old air conditioner compressor, exacerbated by the hot weather conditions at the time. Despite the destruction, many Buddha statues and figurines in the prayer room remained intact, providing a small source of comfort for the family. The house held significant sentimental value, having been purchased by Sri Noom during his healthy years as a testament to his love and dedication to his family.
Jeab Chernyim emphasized the importance of fire prevention, especially during the high-risk summer months. He advised that every home should be equipped with a fire extinguisher and that electrical systems and appliances should be regularly checked. He also stressed the need to ensure that incense, candles, and other offerings are completely extinguished to prevent such accidents.
