Buriram: Foreigners set off fireworks to celebrate New Year's Eve on Thalang Road, but an explosion hit a local resident's car. Foreigners celebrated New Year's by setting off fireworks on a traffic island, but a firework tube fell over, causing an explosion that sent flares flying in all directions, hitting passing and parked vehicles. Fortunately, no one was injured or involved in any accidents.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from in front of a shop, around 8:30 PM on January 1, 2069, on the Buriram-Satuk road in Ban Dan Subdistrict, Ban Dan District, Buriram Province, shows a firework that didn't shoot up into the sky but instead flew towards passing vehicles and parked cars along the roadside.
This incident was later posted online with the caption: "Playing around like this is not nice at all. I went out to check my car and found several fire splatter marks... and they didn't even come to apologize. Luckily, the car wasn't badly damaged."
Reporters later went to the scene and found several cars damaged by sparks from the exploding fireworks. The paint was burned, but not severely.
Ms. A, a resident living near the scene, recounted that while she was breastfeeding her child inside her house, she heard a loud firework explosion in front of her house. She went outside and saw fireworks, one after another, shooting out and hitting her pickup truck parked on the roadside. She then yelled at the person who set off the fireworks. A foreigner then came to apologize, saying that the fireworks they had placed on the median strip had fallen over and that it wasn't intentional. She didn't say anything more because she recognized him as a foreigner.
Reporters say that no one has yet filed a police report against the foreigner involved in this incident. The owner of the fireworks also declined to comment on the events but stated they would compensate for any damages demanded.
