Ankara: The first group of Thai evacuees from Iran has successfully arrived in Trkiye, where they are currently awaiting repatriation to Thailand. On the evening of March 7, 2026, at 6:40 PM local time in Turkey, officials at the Kapikoy border crossing facilitated the arrival of 62 Thai nationals.

According to Thai News Agency, the group was led by Mr. Bancha Yuenyongjongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, and a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, headed by Ms. Pannchita Ramyayanon, Charg© d'affaires. The evacuees were guided by Ms. Chayanit Prasertphol, Counselor of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran, who ensured their safe passage from Iran via the Razi border to the Kapikoy border crossing in Turkey.

The operations center in Van has arranged for accommodation, food, survival kits, and other essentials for the Thai citizens during their stay. They are scheduled to return to Thailand on March 8th and 9th, 2026.

This evacuation aligns with the Thai government's policy to assist its citizens in the Middle East who are affected by conflict, ensuring their safety by facilitating their departure from hazardous areas.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed gratitude to both the Iranian and Turkish authorities for their assistance in the evacuation process. The Ministry also conveys its concern for all those impacted and advises Thai nationals residing in the Middle East to stay informed through updates from the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in the region.
