Flood Alert Issued as Wat Prasat Water Barrier Collapses in Singburi Province

Singburi: The water barrier at Wat Prasat in Singburi Province has collapsed, prompting urgent warnings for residents to move their belongings to higher ground and stay updated with the latest news. The breach occurred at the border between Village Nos. 5 and 4 in the In Buri District, leading to floodwaters inundating several areas, including Village Nos. 5, 4, and 3.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place on November 12, 2015, at 5:00 PM, with authorities urging citizens to relocate their vehicles from the vicinity immediately. The advancing waters are heading towards critical infrastructures, such as the In Buri District Office, In Buri District Police Station, and Wat Samrong. As of 6:00 PM, local villagers reported the arrival of the floodwaters in front of the In Buri District Office, noting the presence of one remaining layer of big bag blocks. Despite efforts from officials to reinforce the barrier, the water level continues to rise rapidly.

In a recent development at 1:10 a.m., social media updates indicated that the embankment under the Inburi Bridge has collapsed. This has led to flooding towards Inburi Hospital and Inburi School. The situation remains critical as late last night, the Singburi Provincial Public Relations Office used their Facebook page to caution residents about potential flooding in the area.

The warning extends to Bang Rachan District, which includes Mae La Subdistrict, Sing Subdistrict, Phochankai Subdistrict, Mai Dat Subdistrict, and Cheing Klat Subdistrict; Khai Bang Rachan District, covering Tha Kham Subdistrict and Pho Sangkho Subdistrict; and Tha Chang District, encompassing Phikun Thong Subdistrict, Thon Samo Subdistrict, Wihan Khao Subdistrict, and Pho Prachak Subdistrict. Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for flood prevention measures and move their possessions to higher ground. They should remain vigilant for news updates and be ready to evacuate if necessary.
