Free Travel on Motorway M7-M9 for New Year 2026 Celebration

Bangkok: The M7 and M9 motorways will be free to use for seven days in celebration of the 2026 New Year, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and support travel, tourism, and logistics. The Department of Highways is opening the M7 Motorway (Bangkok - Chonburi - Pattaya - Map Ta Phut) and the M9 Motorway (Bangkok Outer Ring Road, Kanchanaphisek Road) sections from Bang Pa In to Bang Phli and from Phra Pradaeng to Bang Khun Thian, waiving toll fees for seven days, from 00:01 on December 30, 2025, to 24:00 on January 5, 2026. This is to facilitate travel for the public during the New Year holiday, improve traffic flow, promote travel back to hometowns, encourage domestic tourism, and support the continuous and efficient operation of the country's transportation and logistics during the long holiday period.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Highways has prepared comprehensive facilities to accommodate motorway users by establishing 15 rest areas along the route, open 24 hours a day. These rest areas are equipped with basic amenities such as clean restrooms, parking areas, and rest pavilions to enhance safety and reduce travel fatigue. The department has also integrated its efforts with relevant agencies to deploy personnel to ensure safety throughout the journey.

The Department of Highways extends its best wishes for the New Year 2026. They wish all citizens a happy journey home and a joyful holiday and request cooperation in driving carefully, obeying traffic laws, and observing all warning and directional signs for a convenient, quick, and safe journey.
