GC Achieves the Highest A Rating in Water Management

Rayong: PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) has achieved the highest A rating in water management from CDP for the sixth consecutive year.

According to Thai News Agency, GC has received an A-level (Leadership Level), the highest level, in Water Security management under the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) assessment framework, a globally recognized sustainability assessment institution. This achievement, selected from over 22,100 participating companies worldwide, reflects GC's global leadership in sustainability and its distinctive approach to systematic and sustainable water resource management.

Mr. Narongsak Chiwakanan, CEO of GC, revealed that GC's differentiation lies not only in managing water resources to meet standards but also in designing a water usage system throughout the value chain. This involves integrating the principles of the Circular Economy with innovation and technology to increase efficiency, reduce reliance on natural freshwater, and ensure long-term water resource security.

GC continuously utilizes innovative Wastewater Reverse Osmosis (WWRO) technology to reuse treated wastewater to high standards in its production processes. This reduces the need to draw freshwater from natural sources, addressing a structural difference in industrial water management. The system can reduce water consumption by up to 1.8 million cubic meters per year by 2024, mitigating environmental impact and enhancing water efficiency across all production processes.

Achieving an A rating for the sixth consecutive year reflects GC's commitment to elevating water management standards beyond legal requirements through rigorous environmental oversight and the concrete integration of business strategies with sustainability goals. Last year, GC also received outstanding scores in water pollution management, reinforcing the efficiency of its systems and robust management practices. Furthermore, GC makes a difference by collaborating with all sectors to strengthen long-term water resource security through ecosystem and watershed restoration projects, such as the "Reforestation and Water Conservation Project at Khao Huai Mahad, Rayong Province," as well as reforestation efforts totaling over 21,000 rai nationwide. This reflects the concept of balanced water resource management encompassing environmental, community, and overall ecosystem dimensions.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to climate change management. It sets important global standards for carbon and climate change disclosure and is the world's largest online source of organizational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. Many investors trust CDP's data to inform their investment decisions. CDP categorizes its assessments into eight levels, from A to D.
